PREPARING THE BRAMBLE COCKTAIL
The bramble, a classic and modern cocktail, belongs to the New Era drinks category of IBA cocktails.
This cocktail was created in the 1980s by legendary British bartender Dick Bradsell of Fred's Bar, located in London's unique Soho district. The invention of the drink was part of a movement at the time, which attempted to turn classic cocktails into palatable drinks.
It is a modern, shaken and fruity drink that perfectly achieves a sweet and sour balance with just the right hint of wild blackberry. It has also become a classic in the cocktail bars of England's clubs.
Here is the real recipe, so you can prepare a BRAMBLE like a professional bartender:
INGREDIENTS:
- 5 cl. gin
- 1.5 cl. lemon juice
- 2 cl. sugar syrup
- 1.5 cl. crème de Mûre (blackberry cream)
- Crushed ice
PREPARATION:
- Chill a higball glass with ice.
- In a Boston glass, add all the ingredients except the blackberry liqueur.
- Remove the water from the higball glass, add 4 ice cubes to the mixture.
- Shake vigorously
- Pour the mixture into the glass with the ice cubes and top with blackberry liqueur.
- Garnish with a lemon peel or a slice of lemon and blackberry.
